New Music!!
I added another music thingy so try this one out. I've disabled the other one for now because of the next track problem. I'll get a vote on which is better and enable which ever one is better.
Music! At last!
Yay I finally got another server working with unlimited bandwidth so yeah. I've put Tom's song up so if you can't be bothered to set up the FTP thing, send me the song and I'll upload it for you. If you think that's a bad idea then go ahead and download smartftp.com, put in upostmusic.100free.com in the URL box, username of upostmusic and a password of maybenever and diy.
Music-no...New Idea -yes!
Right the music thing will never work because of bandwidth issues and FTP's limiting file sizes to like 200Kb for unlimited bandwidth. So I have a new idea - a podcast style version where you plug in a RSS feed and it will download the files for you to listen to in iTunes or whatever you use. I'll have to develop it a bit more but the test file should be out soon so get ready...

Right I'm opening up the Music Streaming Service as of now cos I've tested it and it works well. The FTP will be hammered for a little while as all of you try to access it so be patient if it seems slow. Also try to make the file name short cos it won't accept the file otherwise. PS. Please DON'T download the files off the FTP server. I've given you the responsibility to upload and download files. If you really want the music, ask us for the CD. We have a maximum traffic limit and we don't want to use that up from people downloading files so please, DON'T DOWNLOAD THE FILES!Kapiesh?
EDIT: Okay the player just packed up again but it was working (ask Rory) so I have to work on it again, sorry.

What you've all been waiting for (EDITED IMPORTANT)
Right I'm seriously happy with the Music thing so it's time to tell you how to use it. There are a few steps but follow each one really well and we'll soon be on our way to some serious stuff. So here goes:- Download SmartFTP from www.smartftp.com. This will help a lot so download it!
- Install it of course.
- When you've installed it, at the top you will see three empty fields: ADDRESS, LOGIN and PASSWORD and PORT. Enter the following info as shown:
ADDRESS : upost-music.orgfree.com
LOGIN : upost-music.orgfree.com
PASSWORD : maybenever
PORT : 21
- Now press enter and it will (hopefully) log on to the FTP server. When you’re in you’ll see two things in the left pane – the root directory and a folder called music. Obviously you put the music in the music one. To do this double click on the music folder, then right click in the RIGHT pane and go to Upload…Direct and select a file.
- The next step is the ultra important one – go back to the root and download the playlist.m3u file. If it asks to open in Tunes or WMP don’t and choose to open in Notepad.
- Once you have this file, follow the template I have set out and don’t try to be clever. Just do what I have done and everything will be a-okay.
- Save the m3u file, delete the existing one on the server, upload the edited playlist direct back to the place you downloaded it from and then quit or disconnect. Voila that should be it.
- If you’re going to be clever, change the ID3 tags to show YOUR name as well.
Yeah I know the numbering is screwed but Blogger is stupid...
Template fixing
OK, the music problem in IE is now fixed, as far as i can see... someone just tried to cram something too wide into too small a space and it complained.

MUSIC! (BETA)
Right I'm gonna BETA test the music feature now. This all started when Rory asked for my opinion on a thing where members put music in a storage place and then it can be listened to. I dunno if he wanted a media player on the site or a way we could download the actual song file but to stick to copyright laws I decided to put a media player on the site (there are loopholes...I'll write about it when the BETA is a-okay.) Right when you are reading this a music file should be playing. IF you can hear it leave a comment and if you don't leave one too. When it all goes well enough I'll post a tutorial on how it works so we can all share the musicy goodness.
EDIT1: Change tracks too! I've put two tracks on, it's playlist! - both are mashups so no copyright infringement. I don't care if you don't like them, just tell me if it works!!
EDIT2: Due to feedback from Rory, he said not to make it Autoplay as it gets annoying so press PLAY or you won't hear anything. Also due to problems in IE there might be errors on the page so just scroll down (keep going down...) and hopefully I'll have it fixed. BTW dig the new logo?(Credit to Rory)
Music! (ALPHA)
ALPHA testing Music feature i.e. DON'T TOUCH THE CODE IN THE TEMPLATE. You can see a WMP on the sidebar but it won't play due to NO FILES so don't get worried.
